Research Interests

My research interests are biodiversity, systematics, taxonomy and evolution of Ustilaginomycotina (basidiomycetous smut fungi) and Pucciniomycotina (rust fungi and relatives). In collaboration with scientists who collect these mostly plant parasitic fungi all over the world and Marcin Piątek from the Department of Mycology of the W. Szafer Institute of Botany, Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków, Poland who examines morphology and ultrastructure I focuse on molecular phylogenetic analyses.
