I joined the department of computer science, University of Tübingen in April 2021, and am a member of the Cluster of Excellence: Machine Learning for Science. I have worked in signal processing and machine learning for 30 years. I also have an interest in broader questions concerning technology, previously leading a project for the Australian Academy Science on Technology and Australia’s Future. My current research interests are described here.
I am a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, and the Australian Mathematical Society. I am the chair of the advisory board of the Gradient Institute.
