Vorkurs Informatik für Biologen

WS 2018-19

The Vorkurs “Informatik für Biologen” aims at introducing students without computer science background to the basic computational issues they will encounter during their master studies. However, it does not teach programming as deep as in the Bachelor (Bio)informatics. It is rather meant to provide a starting point for those who are planning a career in bioinformatics but do not have experience with Linux-like systems and programming. It is a Vorkurs therefore it does not award any ECTS points.

Content:

  • Linux and the Command Line
  • Typesetting with Latex
  • Version Control with Git
  • Programming concepts using Python
  • Scripting in Python
