We want to understand the laws that govern the evolution of rapidly adapting organisms. To this end, we develop quantitative theory and study evolution of HIV and Influenza, that evolve so fast that we can directly observe how they change from year to year. We have shown that our theoretical framework can predict the success of demise of different strains of seasonal influenza virus.
