Greenhouse- and growth chamber rules (valid for all S1-areas)

jobs which are done by the greenhouse-team:

- sowing of transgenetic and non-transgenetic seeds of Arabidopsis as well as the pricking out of the plants

- sowing and pricking out of Arabidopsis wildtype seeds for the preservation of the stocking

- sowing of tomato seeds (transgenetic and non-transgenetic) and later on pricking out of the plants

- planting of seed potatoes (transgenetic and wildtype p.)

- sowing of legume seeds (peas, beans), transgenetic and wildtype 1

- setting of the time to pot out plants in the greenhouses / growing chambers

- regular watering

- regular fertilizing

- pest monitoring and pest control, if necessary by the means of pest control chemicals

- cleaning of pots and trays which arise within the actual sphere of the s1-houses

- autoclaving of waste which arise within the actual sphere of the s1-houses

- composting and making use of organic waste which arises within the actual sphere of the s1-houses

- ensuring of cleanliness (algae and bacteria control) in s1-houses and workroom

- regular watering and control service on Sundays and holidays

- concerning the plantation of tomatoes: all necessary cultural operations as well as harvesting of seeds ( after the experiment seeds have to be collected from the greenhouse-team)

- concerning the plantation of tobacco: all cultural operations as well as putting into bags of the inflorescences and cutting them when they are ripe ( after the experiment bags with the tobacco inflorescences have to be collected from the greenhouse-team)

the following jobs can be carried out if there is enough free time:

- putting into bags of Arabidopsis inflorescences and labelling of the accompanying bags

- cutting and sorting of the bags with Arabidopsis seeds after the are ripe

- sifting of the Arabidopsis seeds

- labelling of the labels (please use a pencil!) if there are large amounts of plants to prick out (Arabidopsis, tomato, tobacco, potato) or large amounts of plants to put from sterle culture into soil

please take into consideration:

- following instructions, the greenhouse-team will only accept new plants for the s1-area if the accompanying current s1-document are brought

- every tray / pot sprayed with basta has to be labelled, where the date of spraying is noted ( most of our plants are watered from the top, so basta will be washed down from the leaves)
