At the University of Tübingen, Faculty of Science, Dept. of Computer Science, Research Group “Decision Making’, is a
Ph.D. Position (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 65%) –
Machine Learning Methods for Optimization of Mobile Wireless Networks
available to be filled from 01.01.2022. The position is limited to three years.
Project description and duties: Using the AI/ML-based strategies that require no- or little prior information increases the efficiency of wireless networks in terms of computational- and radio resource expenditure. Besides, it improves the users’ experience in terms of delay and performance. They also reduce the signaling and feedback overhead, improve security and privacy, and are compatible with potential self-interest among devices, vendors, and stakeholders. In this project, the goal is to develop distributed AI/ML-based strategies to manage the mobility issues in wireless networks by optimizing the transmission mode selection, multi-connectivity, handover, and beam steering.
Profile description: Applicants must possess a recent excellent M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering (wireless communications, signal processing, information theory), computer science (machine learning and artificial intelligence), operations research, or another tightly related field. A strong mathematical background and the interest/motivation to work on theoretical problems are absolutely necessary. Good programming skills (at least MATLAB or Python) and English proficiency are also required. Knowledge of German is a positive point.
How to apply: Please send your application as a single pdf file to Prof. Maghsudi (setareh.maghsudi).
