Unpublished Field Reports

Roman Necropolis

The settlement place from Emar/Barbalissos/Balis is approximately 80 km east of Aleppo in the proximity of the city of Meskene . The remainders of that antique settlement are today because of the bank of the Assad artificial lake, which floods for the seventies the valley level Euphrates completely (in German).

Botanical Testing

Botanical investigations were made in connection with the archaeological excavation in the summer 1998 on the excavation hill of the medieval settlement Balis and the early historical settlement Emar and its closer environment. Setting of tasks concerned the current flora of the collection area.
