Seminar: Prof. Jonathan Sullivan, "Rhetorics and Democracy in Taiwan"

Prof. Jonathan Sullivan from the School of Politics and International Relations at the Universtiy of Nottingham will visit us from Thursday, 14th to Tuesday, 20th December. He will present a paper he is currently working on in the Taiwan Colloquium on the 14th (6 p.m. at Keplerstraße 2, room 001).

He will also host a Ph.D. dialogue on Monday, 19 December 2022, 4 to 6 p.m.:

Making your way in Asian Studies – From PhD to profession[s]

In this discussion forum, Dr Jonathan Sullivan will be available to discuss any issues pertaining to progression from PhD to academic and alt-ac [i.e. academic adjacent and non-academic] professions. Dr Sullivan will be available to discuss publication strategies, grant applications, CV building, navigating the job market, public communication and personal brand building, and any practical issues specific to pursuing academic and alt-ac careers in Asian Studies fields. Dr Sullivan has written on many of these issues and is happy to discuss any questions that PhD students might have, including questions related to individual projects [on Asia and within the social sciences]. This session is deliberately designed to be informal, dialogic, supportive and constructive. Any PhD student working within broadly conceived Asian Studies is welcome to attend, to put their questions and share their own experiences and opinions.
