Institutskolloquium: What is a Borderspace?

Benjamin Tallis is Senior Researcher at the Institute of International Relations in Prague and Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal New Perspectives. He is also Executive Secretary of the European International Studies Association. He received his PhD in International Politics from the University of Manchester in 2015.

In his research he focuses on the issues of security, borders and the politics of bordering, critical geopolitics, and political geography, focussing mainly on the region of Central and Eastern Europe. He has been a coordinator of research projects on the Czech Republic and NATO, external aspects of the migration crisis, and the future of the Czech-German strategic dialogue.

His doctoral thesis explored the topic of Identities, Borders & Orders in the Enlarged EU and Its Eastern Neighbourhood. In addition to his contributions to New Perspectives, his articles have been published in journals like Security Dialogue and the European Foreign Affairs Review.
