From 2022 to 2024, Erica Frantz is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Institute of Political Science, Tübingen University. In July 2022, she shares her knowledge with the Tübingen students of political science in an intense course on „Authoritarian Politics“.  Authoriatarian Politics

Erica Frantz is an associate professor in Political Science at Michigan State University. She studies authoritarian politics, with a focus on democratization, conflict, and development. She is particularly interested in the security and policy implications of autocratic rule.

In 2020, Erica Frantz won the MSU College of Social Science Outstanding Teacher Award.
From 2011 to 2015, she was an Assistant Professor in Political Science at Bridgewater State University.
She received her PhD in Political Science from UCLA in 2008.

Since 2018, she authored the books “Democracies and Authoritarian Regimes” (co-authored) and “Authoritarianism: What Everyone Needs to Know”, both published with Oxford University Press.
