“Talk to a Practitioner” on January 29, 2025 with Dr. Klaus Kremper

In the latest session of the Master course on Personnel Economics, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Klaus Kremper, former executive board member of Deutsche Bahn AG, as our guest speaker via Zoom for the Talk to a Practitioner series. This format creates a unique opportunity for students to connect directly with industry leaders and gain practical insights into the application of the concepts we discuss in class.
Dr. Kremper, who first joined the lecture two years ago to launch this series, shared his deep knowledge and firsthand experience in managing a complex redundancy program at DB Cargo. He emphasized the critical importance of ensuring a fair process, transparent communication, and the involvement of employee representatives from the very beginning. In his view, a successful program not only includes generous severance packages but also must be paired with job placement initiatives to help employees transition smoothly. His insights on how to navigate such delicate situations were invaluable.
For our students, this session was an incredible learning experience. The opportunity to hear directly from someone with such extensive expertise was both inspiring and enlightening. Many students expressed how much they valued the chance to engage in such a meaningful exchange, underlining the importance of these real-world connections to their education.
