Welcome, Prof. Dr. Stefan Mayer

A warm welcome to Prof. Dr. Stefan Mayer, our new tenure track professor for Marketing Analytics!

Prof. Mayer has been a post-doctoral researcher at the Chair for Product Management and Marketing Communication at Goethe University Frankfurt. His research is at the intersection between consumer behavior and quantitative marketing. As part of this, he is applying current machine learning methods to consumer behavior questions. New publication in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science

The article "Cross-Price Elasticities and Their Determinants: A Meta-Analysis and New Empirical Generalizations", co-authored by Johannes Auer and Dominik Papies, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. The journal is one of the premier journal in marketing research, and is featured in the Financial Times journal list. The article is available here.

Registration for the Bachelor Thesis Seminar on Marketing (B322a) is open from Monday, February 4, 2019 - Friday, March 8, 2019 (8 pm s.t.) via ILIAS (participation in the survey + upload official transcript). If you are on a waiting list and are then offered a place, you will receive an email.

Registration for the Master Seminar (B520) is open from Monday, February 4, 2019 - Friday, March 8, 2019 (8 pm s.t.) via ILIAS (participation in the survey + upload official transcript). The link can be found here. Please click here to find an outline of the seminar. If the number of students who apply, exceeds the number of available places (16), then some places are allocated according to quality, some by drawing lots.

New paper accepted for publication at the International Journal of Research in Marketing

A new paper by Dominik Papies, co-authored with Nils Wlömert (WU Vienna) has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Research in Marketing. The paper "International Heterogeneity in the Associations of New Business Models and Broadband Internet with Music Revenue and Piracy" studies the music market from a global perspective. After the introduction of broadband Internet, music revenue declined heavily in some countries, while the reaction was much less severe in other countries. The paper seeks to understand these international differences and the role of new business mode introductions in this context. The paper can be downloaded here. The International Journal of Research in Marketing is one of the leading marketing research journals (A according to Jourqual journal ranking).

Paper "Price Promotions and Popular Events" published in Journal of Marketing

A paper by Wiebke Keller, junior professor at the marketing department, has been published in the Journal of Marketing. The paper titled "Price Promotions and Popular Events" is joint work with Barbara Deleersnyder (Tilburg Universiy) and Karen Gedenk (University of Hamburg).
The Journal of Marketing is one of the top journal in business research, ranked A+ according to Jourqual. Further information can be found here. Congratulations to Wiebke Keller!

Apples Probleme in China - Dominik Papies im Interview auf faz.net

Im Interview mit der Online-Ausgabe der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung erläutert Prof. Papies seine Perspektive zu den jüngsten Nachrichten rund um den Absatz von Apple-Produkten in China. Apple hatte Anfang 2019 mitgeteilt, dass Absatz und Umsatz hinter den Erwartungen zurückbleiben, was zu zu erheblichem Aufsehen geführt hatte.
