Tübingen-South Africa Program 2004

Our private South African dinner...

When we left home on the 5th of January,we did not know what to expect. We were all excited by the prospect of leaving home and our very own country to go and experience other people's culture in all aspects.
For us,leaving home was very liberating, but we had no idea that we were going to miss so many different things from home..ESPECIALLY THE FOOD!!!!We got to understand that when some people say that when you go abroad you tend to appreciate what you have left behind. On the 17th of january we as the South African student decided to have our own dinner....We were constantly salivating because we missed hot food and spices, coming from all different walks of life we were motivated to cook all the foods that we missed from
back at home and have a feast... Barbara had organised that we get Menza tickets so we could go have lunch and dinner there. The food was nice but of course we needed change and variety. We decided to cook Chakalaka, potatoe salad and grilled chicken. It was definately 'soul food',a meal to remember.
