Castle of Hohenzollern (21-01-04)

The bus drive to the castle wasn't that long as we had anticipated. The view of the castle from the highway is just splendid. It just shouts out expensive and elegant from far.On arrival we had to walk up the hill and snow ball
fighting kept us busy for that 15 minutes hike. Girls were hit the most.Janine and Teboho were the victims.Mawande had no mercy on them.Even the guys
were hurt in the fight especially Jay and Mawande Bantwini.Yashini was 'gently' tackled rugby style by the merciless Mawande and immediately turned into a snow girl.As one gets to the top of the hill thats when one sees the elegance of the castle and the beauty of nature from up there.More so that it was snowing and the castle is on top of a hill.

The tour guide of the castle told us about the history of the Hohenzollern family and that the castle was built in 1850.It was built not as a residential area but to show the legacy of the Hohenzollern emperial dynasty.Indeed they showed that legacy by building that 154 rooms castle.

Questions were asked, but they soon died out because it was getting unbearably cold in the castle. There are no heaters in that castle. The sight of the coronation crown warned our hearts. The fact that it's made of more than 100 diamonds (a girls best friend) and pearls was just heart warming. It really deserves the maximum security that it's been given to it.

Hiking down was much quicker.Like always we sang as we hiked down. This time we went through a tunnel and lit candles, which helped in the cold but not that much.Getting on the bus was a relief and seeing the arcitecturial lighting of the castle was just WUNDERBAR.
