Tübingen-South Africa Program 2004

Welcome Day (06-01-04)

After a long ride in the bus from Frankfurt airport I
couldn't believe that we are finally at the University of
Tübingen.Wow the place is as big as the city! We had a warm
welcome from Stephan,Barbara,Christopher and Marion. We were
then helped with our luggage and we were taken into another
room where we introduced ourselves to each other.

We were then taken into our rooms (student residence) and we
all separated as we stayed into different rooms, but it was
good because it gave us time to mingle with other students
coming in different directions of the world. I got a
fantastic room and it is well furnitured with a big built-
in wardrobe and lots of space around , a comfortable bed
with a beautiful white linen and a nice floor carpet.

At 15h45 ,it was time for the group to meet at the same
place we were when we came and then we were taken to the
other building which was the kitchen. Barbara addressed the
group and she had lots of surprises for us which including
the Tübingen bag, stationary(for our lessons),internet
a ccess cards, meal tickets, pocket money(to sustain us over
the weekends)and the bus ticket(for the entire month).

It was then time for everybody to get up and fix supper as
we devided chores amoungst each other. In my group I had
Nomonde,Mawande and Mirjam to do green salad.Janine
,Marilyn,Phuti and Inga did the fruit salad. Vishen and
Teboho did pasta and cheese while Mabhuti and Wydee did the
dish washing part.Kgosi and Unathi cried their tears out
while chopping some onions!
Others set the table for us and the decorations were
lovely.

Supper was ready in no time and everbody helped themselves
out.

After everything we had to practise our traditional songs
and the national anthem (NKOSI SIKELEL'I-AFRIKA and
Shosholoza).
I was then asked to lead the national anthem and afterwards
I was called the "Diva".
Basically we had a lovely and a warm welcome and I would
personally like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has
contributed to make this programme successful.
