CHT Beitlich factory visit (21-01-05)

HISTORY

CHT Beitlich is a chemical and textile factory founded in Germany in 1953 by Reiner Beitlich. It is an international corporation with firms in Singapore and South Africa, specialising in the thickening agents found in food like ice-cream, as well as the logos found on t-shirts, like Nike and Adidas. To our South African readers, even the logo "Red" by Mr. Price is made by CHT Beitlich.

OUR EXPERIENCE

We arrived at the main factory site at Dußlingen at 10am, where we were divided into 2 groups and proceeded with a factory tour. Personally, the odour of the chemical factory was not too pleasant, but nevertheless it was a very informative tour. The highlight being the delicious lunch provided afterwards.

On a fun factor scale of 1 - 10, it was not my favourite excursion, but for the avid engineering enthusiast, this was one not to be missed.
