Tübingen-South Africa Program 2006

Welcome Day

by Marothi Meriam Thosago

We arrived at Stuttgart Airport, where we were fetched by a bus to Tübingen. The first person to welcome us was Barbara, by the way back in Johannesburg Marthie told us about a person by the name of Barbara about how happy she can be! We also met Marion and Nicki, Barbara's colleagues. Apart from them we also met two students who are from South Africa studying in Tübingen.

We were taken to our rooms and everything was perfect because we also got lunch, so we took a shower then met with Marion at block three to take a short trip to IBZ/ Studo. Cookies with tea and coffee were served and we were given all the information needed for our stay in Tübingen which will be for four weeks. Armin, a photographer from South Africa joined us as he was taking a video of us doing what we do best: talking. A group photo was also taken. Then we had to cook dinner for ourselves, so each student had his/ her chores in the kitchen. We had "Kässpätzle" which is home-made pasta and cheese. After dinner, we played a little game to get to know each other as we come from different parts of South Africa.

After all the playing we helped clean the place and wash dishes, it was enjoyable because Barbara, Nicki and Marion also helped so it was quick and easy. That's how our first day/ night at Tübingen was!!! Definetely a night to remember!!!!
