Tübingen South Africa Program 2009

German lesson: Geography
a report written by Izanne Tyler

I looked forward to the geography seminar on Germany as this really interests me as I study tourism. It was also interesting for general information, as this is a country that I am currently visiting and its rich with history. I found out that Tübingen lies in the state Württemberg and the capital is Stuttgart. Tübingen university was founded in 1477. The population of Germany is about 82,5 Mio. and the capital city of Germany is Berlin.
The highest church tower is found at, Albert Einsteins birthplace, Ulm. Lake Konstanz is the biggest lake in Germany which also borders Austria and Switzerland, and the Neckar river flows through Tübingen as well. On the other hand the Rhine river is the largest river in Germany. The Black Forest is found in Germany which is close to Freiburg. Besides Tübingen, Heidelberg and Freiburg are also traditional places of study.
The geography of Germany as a whole is such a broad topic, there is so much history and so much more to be learned. This is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity and knowledge that will be treasured and always remembered by me, and everyone who participates in this wonderful program.

Danke...
