Tübingen South Africa Program 2009

Sledding 2009

Reflecting back on the day that we went sledding, a tremendous smile crosses my face… We innocently, were scheduled to have extremely yummy Kässpätzle on this day… However, as we had all perused the official program website, I enquired about sledding earlier during the day … Little did we know that Barbara, Marion and Tom did not let on that they have considered our enquiry as a request and being the perfect hosts, they surprised us with news that we will be having an adventure as we were eating our lunch… Boy, was it an adventure… It was freezing cold, and as soon as the sled's hit the snow, people were off embarking on small little test runs at first… Llewelyn and Mzi of course being the naughty boys, wandered off and away, test runs were not needed…. I thought they were insane … In nature I am not a daredevil, but I thoroughly enjoyed the test run and when Thembi suggested we do the full course, I spontaneously agreed, though 2 minutes later, I decided to change my mind… Oops… too late…. As we were still preparing ourselves, Barbara gave us some support and nudged the sled and off we were… the first things I heard was Thembi screaming frantically … "I changed my mind!, I changed my mind!" It was really too late then, the only other things I heard afterwards was my own screaming and the sled which was going at lightning fast speed…. We eventually arrived at our destination with a thump, as the sled tumbled from under us…. Awww, my legs were freezing and I had a blue mark, but it was all worth it…. I am sure the whole team has the same sentiments , they had an very fun and fulfilling day, so much so that we came home with 3 broken sleds, a few injuries but memories and laughs that will be cherished eternally… Many thanks for affording us this opportunity,

Lotsa Love & God Bless
Ayesha
