Project: Phage Dynamics in Soil and Rhizosphere Plant-Phage Interactions

Phages constitute a vast, largely unexplored reservoir of genetic diversity, mediating crucial ecological functions by shaping microbial communities and driving biogeochemical element fluxes through the release of carbon and nutrients. However, phage dynamics and turnover in the soil and rhizosphere remain almost entirely unknown. This study aims to elucidate the role of phages in plant-soil interactions, microbial host mortality, biodiversity, and soil carbon fluxes under both current and future climate conditions.
