The subproject B02 comparatively investigates the development of resources in favorable and unfavorable regions from an archeological and archeo-pedological perspective. The main focus lies on the dynamics of settlements, i.e. settlement shifts, as well as land use and the possibly related migration of people during the Bronze Age. The study sites are located in the regions of the Baar, Hegau and Upper Swabian in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Apart from archeological surveys, geobiochemical marker analysis of soil colluvia are employed in the study. In cooperation with ethnological sciences, the interactions and dynamics between colonization, land management, soil science, perception of erosion and climate will be worked out.
