10. November: "Lexical Retrieval in L1 of Native Czech Bilinguals: Bilingual Disadvantage?"

Vortrag von Doc. dr. Jan Chromý (Tübingen/Prag), 12:15, Hörsaal 426

Previous research has shown that bilingual speakers tend to be slower in lexical retrieval in their L1 language than monolingual speakers of the given language. This phenomenon is being often refered to as a "bilingual disadvantage". However, various shortcomings of  this line of research can be identified. In this presentation, I will first give a critical overview of the previous literature on this topic and second, I will introduce our joint research project with Marie Anna Hamanová which focused on lexical retrieval in native speakers of Czech with various levels of L2 knowledge.
