The newly funded Cluster of Excellence TERRA “Terrestrial Geo-Biosphere Interactions in a Changing World” is an interdisciplinary research initiative of geoscientists, biologists, and computer scientists at the Universities of Tübingen and Hohenheim and the Senckenberg Institution of Biodiversity and Earth System Research in Frankfurt, investigating how the interactions between the living and non-living worlds shape global change from single microorganisms to the globe, in the geological past, at present, and in the future. It starts on January 1, 2026 and is currently funded until December 31, 2032. We invite applications for the following position in the coordination office:
Science-Dialog Manager (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 50%)
starting as soon as possible until 31.12.2032
The science-dialog manager acts at the interface between TERRA researchers, other large-scale research initiatives, and the public-relations and public-engagement team to enhance the visibility of the Cluster of Excellence. This includes the following responsibilities:
- Network building between TERRA and other large-scale research initiatives,
- Organizing activities and events of the national platform on Earth System Science,
- Coordinating and contributing to TERRA’s input to national and international syntheses (e.g., academy-of-science, IPBES, and IPCC reports),
- Supporting TERRA’s public-relations officer and the TERRA FutureLab in public-engagement and - dialog activities.
We offer the opportunity for the funding of an upgrade to a 100% position for an integrative TERRA-related research project for two years. This is available on request and requires a one-page project outline.
Candidates should have completed a PhD in a TERRA-related discipline, have a proactive, structured, well-organized work style, and must be able to communicate fluently in English (at least C1).
