Ph.D. student position in Evolutionary Sciences in the Junior Research Group on the “Co-evolution of Tool-use and Language” (m/f/d)

The Ph.D. student position will start as soon as possible and run for 3 years, with a possible extension for a fourth year. Salary will be according to the German public service scale TV-L E13, 65%.

Applicants for this position must hold a Master’s or equivalent degree in prehistoric archaeology, biomechanics, neurology, applied linguistics or a related field. The ideal applicant will have knowledge either of stone-tool knapping techniques and/or the use of electroencephalography (EEG). Previous experience in such techniques is not a mandatory requirement but will be considered a plus. 

The successful applicant will work in an interdisciplinary project focusing on human brain-hand movement coordination during prehistoric stone-tool use, and its potential association with verbal/non-verbal communication.
