"Gratia and Fides: Intercultural Exchanges between Greek Christianity and Roman Political Discourse" (GraFiE)

The research project explores the cross-cultural exchange between the Latin and Greek churches (4th-6th c.) through the concepts of faith and grace. It examines Latin Christian texts that reinterpret Greek works, focusing on how intellectuals like Ambrose of Milan used translation to shape a Roman Christian identity by blending Roman values with Greek theological findings.

Das Forschungsprojekt "Gratia und Fides: Interkulturelle Austauschprozesse zwischen griechischem Christentum und römischer politischer Diskurs" untersucht den interkulturellen Austausch zwischen der lateinischen und der griechischen Kirche (4.-6. Jh.) anhand der Begriffe Glaube und Gnade. Es analysiert lateinische christliche Texte, die griechische Werke umschreiben, und zeigt, wie Intellektuelle wie Ambrosius von Mailand durch Übersetzungen eine römische christliche Identität formten, indem sie römische Werte mit griechischen theologischen Ideen verbanden.
