Book Launch: The Routledge Handbook for Global South Studies on Subjectivities

The Baden-Württemberg Center for Brazil and Latin America at the Universität Tübingen (BraLat) is pleased to support the upcoming launch of The Routledge Handbook for Global South Studies on Subjectivities. This interdisciplinary volume offers new perspectives on subjectivity in the Global South through transarea dialogues.

Date: Monday, 12 May 2024
Time: 18:00
Location: Room 215, Brechtbau, University of Tübingen

Editors Susanne Goumegou, Georgina Cebey, and Sebastian Thies will present key contributions from the volume, which critically engage with Northern-centric notions of subjectivity, identity, and alterity.

About the Book: The volume brings together perspectives from Asian, African, and Latin American Studies to challenge myths of the autonomous subject, exploring how Southern subjectivities resist forms of epistemic and social marginalization. In an era of manifold crises, these contributions interrogate whose voices are heard—and whose lives matter.

We cordially invites the academic community and all interested parties to the launch of The Routledge Handbook for Global South Studies on Subjectivities. This interdisciplinary volume offers new perspectives on subjectivity in the Global South through transarea dialogues.
