Data Management

Basically, all users of the BinAC or the Institutscluster have their home directory (HOME) available for storing data. Since the space is limited and HOME is backed up daily, only essential data, important scripts or own applications should be kept here.

All kinds of simulations should be done in the working directory /beegfs/work (WORK). This is designed with high performance, but is not explicitly backed up. The use of workspaces (see below) is expressly desired. Even larger amounts of data can and should be processed here. However, WORK is not a long-term storage location. Once records have been completed, they should be moved to a suitable storage. It is the responsibility of the users to free the storage space again.

Each compute node has a local /scratch (SCRATCH) directory, which is to be used for I / O intensive simulations to temporarily store intermediate tmp data during the runtime of the job.

Workspaces

Workspaces are directories that are automatically deleted after a maximum runtime of 90 days. The size of the workspaces is not limited by quota, but only by the available storage space.
