Deciphering the role of gene organization in the targeting of transmembrane effectors to type III secretion

In my project I am studying type III secretion system (T3SS) transmembrane effector proteins. It is already known that these proteins need T3SS chaperones to be correctly secreted into the host cell cytoplasm. The interaction between the chaperone and the effector protein is crucial, if it is disrupted the effector protein is integrated into the bacterial membrane instead of being secreted. My goal is to understand the importance of gene order of the effector protein and the chaperone for efficient T3S.
