Idea of this Mini-Symposium

The last three to four years have been an exciting time in plant immune system research, especially in terms of NLR-mediated responses. It is amazing how much progress has been made and how many new things we have learned. Nevertheless, there is still a lot that remains unanswered and is therefore part of many research efforts. For this reason, Prof. Jeff Dangl and I decided to organize a small symposium, focusing on helper and paired NLRs. The goal is to give, especially young scientists, a chance to exchange ideas with their peers/colleagues and to have the opportunity to discuss in detail certain scientific problems and hypotheses. This symposium aims at providing a platform for exactly these discussions and exchanges.

The Mini-symposium is a 2 day event held here in beautiful Tübingen, Germany, at the ZMBP (Center for Plant Molecular Biology) starting at the evening of March 19th and ending on the 21st 2023.

We invited young scientists (PhD candidates and PostDocs) from the leading Helper/Paired-NLR and plant immunity laboratories and junior PIs that recently have started their own labs focusing on this topic.

We are also very thankful for the financial support by the Reinhard Frank Foundation, 2Blades, Resurrect Bio, Limagrain and Rijk Zwaan and the co-financing by the SFB/CRC1101.

Cheers,

Farid
