Without Order or Narrative? Reading Latin Text Collections from Late Roman Republic to the Early Middle Ages ('LTC project')

A Durham-Tübingen cooperation

The project Without Order or Narrative? Reading Latin Text Collections from Late Roman Republic to the Early Middle Ages ('LTC project') is a cooperation between the Departments of Classics of the University of Tübingen and Durham. The project is led by Prof. Dr. Roy Gibson (Durham) and Prof. Dr. Robert Kirstein (Tübingen).

Regular workshops in Tübingen and Durham will bring together a range of senior scholars from different disciplines of Classical studies and their neighbouring fields (such as Ancient History, Early Medieval History, Church History, and Comparative Literature), as well as junior researchers from Durham, Tübingen and other European countries whose qualifications are anchored in the same topic. The meetings will serve as a platform to present ongoing research projects on Latin text collections. Innovative theoretical (especially narratological) approaches to this complex will be presented and their potential for application to text collections critically examined. On this basis, overarching guiding principles for the analysis are to be developed. These will form the core framework of a larger third-party funding proposal to be prepared.

The LTC project is sponsored by the Tübingen-Durham-Seedcorn fund.
