Tübingen-South Africa Program 2003

Course Outline

The Tübingen/South Africa Programme takes place in January of each year and is hosted by the University of Tübingen in southern Germany. With sponsorship from DaimlerChrysler, the Ministry of Arts and Research Baden-Württemberg and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), all expenses for the students (except spending money) are taken care of. This includes flight costs, accommodation and food, among other things necessary for a month-long stay in Tübingen. Students are provided with bus tickets, writing materials  and additional warm clothes and are also accompanied by a fellow South African who is then available to the students throughout the month.

Students stay in single rooms in University residences, from where  they have easy access to buses as well as shops. Interested students should be prepared for a fairly intensive programme of lectures, seminars, excursions and other activities. Excursions are both fun and informative, and lead to a comprehensive understanding of German business and culture. They range from factory tours of DaimlerChrysler and Hewlett-Packard, to short hikes, to art gallery tours and much more! Language learning naturally makes up a large portion of the programme.

The programme is aimed at students who have not previously had the opportunity to travel/study overseas and students must be nominated by their institution in order to be eligible for application.
