Wurmlinger Kapelle (11/01/03)

A small brave group of us started the hike with Marion, Christof and Stephan at 11 am on the first Saturday here. We passed through the town and up a very steep hill to the woods. The steep uphills were at times a nightmare, and I was usually last in the group. I soon forgot the feeling when I saw the scenery. It was like a picture out of a fairy tale – undisturbed nature, trees reaching up to the sky, covered in snow and clear, crisp winter air.
Hiking is hard work of course (I would know) and so the group was treated to chocolates, sweets, biscuits and schnapps to warm us up (see picture below)! We finally reached Wurmlinger Kapelle, which was a sight to behold set up high on a hill. At the chapel we could see the surrounding villages as well as the Black Forrest in the distance. On our way down to Hirschau we found some hills to sled down. That certainly was a highlight for me, though not at the moment I almost crashed into some trees because I didn’t know how to steer. All praise to Jacomien and Teboho who certainly have mastered the art of sledding!
The last leg of our hike was to Emka Recreation center in Hirschau where the group had a late, but welcomed lunch. At about three o’clock we went back to Tübingen by bus. A great time was had by all!
