Hohenzollern Castle (14/01/2007)

Yesterday, Sunday the 14th of January 2007 the group visited Hohenzollern
castle, seat to the Prussian kings and German Emperors.
Our excursion began at 14:30 when we were whisked away by bus to the foot
of the hill that seats the Hohenzollern Castle; from there we then had to
haul ourselves up to the top of the hill where the castle sits, that took
about 15 minutes. When we finally got to the top, we quickly realised that
the 15 minute struggle was worth it because the view of the surrounding
landscape was enchanting, that view was really worthy of kings and queens,
not to mention the castle itself which was just breathtaking, and we were
still just outside.
Our guided tour began at the Family Tree Hall where we saw the names of
the kings and emperors who had lived in the castle, from there we moved on
to the Count’s Hall which was just out of this world. from there it was
the library, Margrave’s Parlour which serves as a study and then to the
Queens Parlour, we also ventured into the royal Treasury where we saw the
weapons that were used, as well as the cutlery and dishes, the clothes,
jewellery as well as the central piece of the treasury of the castle, the
kings crown.
After the Treasury we climbed the tower and from there we could actually
see our residences in Tübingen, after that we visited the chapels and
learned some interesting facts about why the different chapels are there.
When we left in the dark we lit our torches and walked back down singing
into the night and it was all happily ever after.
