Poem (by Sifiso)

Author: Sifiso Sibeko (University of Zululand)

I am very old, but I am strong.
My beauty is unquenchable.
I am powerful, productive and proud.
Proud of my Heroes and Sheroes of Knowledge

My womb has cared great Scientists,
Global Philosophers and Professors.
I water the land more than the Neckar River,
I am Stronger than pain,
The river dries out, the mental
Rusts, mountains fall and oceans part,
But I have been here for centuries.

My roots are stronger than the rocks,
I am richer than Gold,
So loved by all the world,
I was created to sharpen, mould and inspire the World.
My children shine brighter than diamonds,
I give birth to heads
I am proud of myself,
How purposeful, progressive and prosperous I am!

My Name is Universität Tübingen,
My father is Eberhard Karl,
I am called a town but I am more than silver,
My height is higher than of an Eagle,
Deeper, than the oceans,
Sweater than honey.
My sight reaches Africa, America and Asia.

I am the mother of all intellectuals,
I nurture them, then fly them to nestle.
My house is always open to strangers,
I fed them too, like my children.

People they come and go,
Things In and out,
But I stand firm,
Till the day the sun will set.
