A CHOCOHOLIC’S DREAM COME TRUE

From the very first day in Tubingen we were showered with lots of chocolates, all good!! So when the day came for us to find out about the process through which it is made you better believe we were all very excited. To top that off there was the opportunity to buy lots of chocolate at reduced prices! Hullo!! Sehr Gut!

So oozing with excitement and of course a healthy appetite… for knowledge on producing chocolate we set out for RITTER SPORT, home of the square chocolate. We were even blessed to have three very special people tag along, my two roommates and Marion’s mother. Thank you for joining us!

The tour of Ritter Sport consisted of two parts. First we watched a short video that outlined the history and future of the company and Ritter Sport brand. As a marketing student I found their approach as well as their packaging innovative and quite refreshing. The square bar sets them apart from the rest and the variety ensures that they reach a broad market. The second part had us filling out a questionnaire; this had us walking around the floor finding answers to questions about where the almonds in the marzipan chocolate bars are found. The interactive environment made this fun with us completing sections in groups. One group even elected to complete the form in German.

Then of course we got to do some shopping! Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate! We bought by the kilograms of all the different varieties and sizes! Lets hope we not seriously overweight when go back home.

The wonderful day ended with Marion distributing some lekker chocolate as we waited for our bus to take us home.

Thanks to everyone for yet another wonderful day…
