Implementation of research data management

For research projects and working groups, especially in the field of humanities and social sciences in Tübingen, we offer support in the implementation of research data management. This includes areas such as storage, backup and security of research data, organization and documentation of raw data as well as processed data and analyses, indexing of data through metadata, publication and provision of research data, and their long-term archiving.

This support is offered in different forms:

  • Basic support: as a Core Facility, we are available to the Tübingen humanities and social sciences free of charge to provide advice and support on questions and problems relating to the implementation of research data management and with regard to the use of the research data repository FDAT.
  • Service provider: in many projects it is desired or necessary to develop and provide project-specific concepts and services beyond the basic support, for example software applications and database solutions for data acquisition and analysis or the preparation of metadata and data for publication and archiving. For these activities, we invoice the costs incurred, depending on the effort involved, and also prepare detailed cost estimates for project applications.
  • Project member: in complex and data-intensive projects such as collaborative projects or software development projects in the Digital Humanities, we can also take responsibility as a project member with human resources, for example as data stewards or software developers. The level of involvement is adapted to the specific requirements as part of FDM planning and can range from part-time staff allocations to full-time positions.

The projects page shows some examples of projects in which we are involved as a service provider or project partner. Contact us to discuss collaboration opportunities.
