Tuition fees for a second degree (650.00 euros per semester)
Legal basis
The information below is intended to outline the relevant law and the related procedures; the sole legally binding document is the Landeshochschulgebührengesetz des Landes Baden-Württemberg.
Tuition fees will not be charged for a second degree in case of:
- Students who are already subject to tuition fees as international students.
- Degrees obtained abroad are not taken into account.
- A change of subject studied within a degree program or a change of entire degree program without a degree being obtained.
- Students who are enrolled in parallel in two or more different degree programs at the same or at more than one institution in the state of Baden-Württemberg will become subject to tuition fees starting in the semester following the date of the first degree certificate.
- A second degree which is a prerequisite under professional regulations for a professional qualification (e.g. to become an oral surgeon).
- A supplementary subject within the framework of a teaching degree.
Exemptions may be granted upon application for:
- Students in their year of practical training according to “Appropationsordnung für Ärzte” (medical internship).
- Students in a placement semester (internship) which is part of their regular studies.
- Students with a significant disability which hinders their studies as set out in § 2 SGB IX.
- Students on a leave of absence. Attention: A tuition fee exemption because of a leave of absence is only possible, if there's a reason for a leave of absence, your application for a leave of absence is approved and was received by Student Administration before the beginning of the lecture period.
