Final Announcement
Dear colleague,
The preparation of our workshop is continuing and this announcement is to summarize important points.

COVID
Almost all COVID restrictions are down in Germany. In buses and trains, however, you still have to wear an FFP2 or a medical mask.
There is no mask required at the conference venue. However, we strongly recommend to wear an FFP2 or a medical mask throughout the conference.
We appeal to your personal responsibility to test for a possible COVID infection before the begin of our conference and not to come to the conference venue etc. when you recognize any cold symptom.
We can neither provide COVID tests nor masks.

LOCAL TRANSPORT
You will get a so-called €9 ticket at the local registration here. It allows to travel regional in Germany in August. It is valid for all buses in Tübingen and for the Airport Sprinter as well (so far, unfortunately only on the way back to the airport).
We recommend to use buses to ride from the city to the conference venue. The lines (watch the directions) are

first is close to the Mensa, the latter is closer to the venue.
Be aware that one bus cannot transport 160 participants at a time and, thus, please do not try to take the last possible bus to be in time at the venue.

LUNCH
A free lunch will be provided in the Mensa Morgenstelle, within walking distance (500 m, one way). You will get the respective vouchers at the local registration.

REGISTRATION
The registration desk will be open
- Sunday, August 14 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the informal gathering at Mike's Urban Pub (in the ibis Styles hotel)
- Monday to Friday from 8 am to 2 pm in lecture room N11 at the conference venue (see below)
VENUE
The conference venue will be the lecture hall N10 of the university.
Coffee etc. will be provided during the Coffee & Posters breaks in the foyer of lecture room N10
and the neighboring lecture room N11. Be aware that, due to fire-protection reasons, the number of persons is limited in the foyer (80 at a time) and in the N11 (82 at a time).
Posters will be on display the whole conference in the N10 foyer and in the lecture room N11. Please find your poster number here.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
The program is available online.
Talks have a duration of 12 minutes + 3 minutes discussion. Since we have a hybrid conference, all talks have to be presented from our conference laptop. In case that you will present a talk, make sure that your talk is on the laptop at least 30 minutes before your session. You may send your talk to malyshev@astro.uni-tuebingen.de in advance.
Posters have a maximum size of 84.1 x 118.9 cm, upright.
Abstracts of talks and posters are available online and in an abstract booklet that you will get at the local registration. It includes also the scientific program.
SOCIAL EVENTS
On Sunday, August 14 2022, from 6 pm, we will have an informal gathering at Mike's Urban Pub that is located in the ibis Styles hotel. Since this may be too small to host all participants, it may become necessary to spread over the city then.
On Wednesday, August 17 2022, we will have a conference dinner at the Hofgut Domäne in Hechingen in the event location Lui. Buses will leave from Tübingen's central bus station at 5 pm. It is still possible to register.
In case that you have registered for the conference dinner, the fee (€65) will be collected at the local registration. To make this easy & fast, please bring the exact cash. We cannot accept any card payment.

The preparation of our workshop is continuing and this announcement is to update you on the most important developments. For details, we refer to our workshop webpage:
If you are interested to participate, please fill out the REGISTRATION FORM on the webpage. To make our plannings easier, please register soon, perhaps NOW, it takes only a minute. You can submit a preliminary contribution title and will be able to revise it later.
IMPORTANT: The deadline for early-bird registration is February 28, 2022.
IMPORTANT: In case that you have to apply for a visa to visit Germany, please make sure that it is valid for Schengen states (text on the visa reads "valid for Schengen states" in the respective language of the issuing country - in german: gültig für Schengener Staaten).
The VENUE will be the main lecture hall in the university hospital (CRONA). We will give details later.
We have applied for sponsorship and may have limited funds available for FINANCIAL SUPPORT of participants. Please write an email to astro-eurowd20@listserv.uni-tuebingen.de to let us know to what extent this help is essential for your participation. If you need financial assistance please answer these questions:
- Do you need us to waive the conference-registration fee?
- Do you need financial help with travel expense?
- Do you need financial help with accommodation?
We suggest again to book your HOTEL ROOM as soon as possible (have a look at https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/146976) because Tübingen is a highly touristic place.
SOCIAL EVENTS: We will wait until the early-bird ends, to have an estimate about the number of in-person participants. We will present the plans shortly after this date.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: will be opened shortly after the end of early-bird registration.

1st Announcement
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 22nd European Workshop on White Dwarfs, to be held in Tübingen next summer. It continues the series of workshops which started in Kiel, Germany, in 1974. The last workshop took place in Austin in 2018.
The topics to be covered in the conference will be similar to those of the previous meetings. Therefore, contributions in all areas of white dwarf research are welcome, including
- WD structure and evolution
- WD progenitors; central stars of planetary nebulae
- WDs as probes of mass loss, local star formation history, and initial mass function
- WDs in new surveys
- WDs in binaries: in CVs, as SN Ia progenitors, supersoft X-ray sources, double degenerates, WD/brown dwarf systems, etc.
- WD dust disks and planetary systems
- WDs in stellar clusters and in the halo
- WD atmospheres, chemical composition, magnetic fields
- Pulsating WDs
We plan to have this workshop primarily as an in-person meeting, however, we will also offer the possibility of online participation. We want to maintain the tradition of previous conferences, i.e., oral contributions of about 15 minutes and poster sessions. If you are interested to participate and to contribute an oral or poster presentation please fill in the registration form on our web page (see below) before the stated deadline. The registration will open on Jan. 3rd, 2022. The registration fee (for both online and in-person participation) will be €100 and €150 for early and late registration, respectively.
