Forschungsinteressen

Asya Achimova arbeitet daran, Auflösung von Ambiguität als pragmatische Inferenz mithilfe des „Rational Speech Act framework“ (Frank & Goodman, 2012) zu modellieren. Ambiguität wird oft als unerwünschter Nebeneffekt von Kommunikation angesehen, welcher den Informationsaustausch behindert. Allerdings sind Gesprächspartner nicht nur in der Lage, effiziente Strategien anzuwenden, um Ambiguität aufzulösen; sie können außerdem ihre Aussagen bewusst ambig halten, um zu beobachten, wie ihre Gesprächspartner solche mehrdeutigen Äußerungen interpretieren. Sprecher können dann inferieren, welche Überzeugungen und welches Vorwissen des Hörers zu einer bestimmten Interpretation einer ambigen Äußerung geführt haben. Konversationspartner erhalten so voneinander ein tieferes Verständnis der jeweiligen Präferenzen und Vorstellungen, ohne explizit danach fragen zu müssen. Das „RSA framework“ stellt uns mathematische Methoden zur Verfügung, mit denen pragmatische Inferenz modelliert werden kann.
