Open call: FAPESP Thematic Project "Second Generation Quantum Technologies"

The researcher will participate in the Thematic Project “Second Generation Quantum Technologies” supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and hosted by the Center for Exact Sciences and Technology (CCET) of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) in Brazil.

This is a project in a hot area that has been attracting great interest around the world and with huge investments from both government agencies and private initiatives. Candidates will have the opportunity to work in highly dynamic research group with numerous collaborations with international centers of excellence, as well as collaboration with companies interested in developing quantum technologies for commercial applications.

There is a post-doctoral position in Quantum Correlations in Cold Atoms at the University of São Paulo's São Carlos Institute of Physics, one of the Thematic Project's partner institutions. The postdoc will be responsible for an ultracold atom experiment aimed at (1) creating quantum correlations with the aim of reducing quantum noise in lasers, atomic clocks and interferometers, and (2) exploring new ways to use interferometry of matter waves for improving inertial sensors.

Requirements: PhD in Physics or related areas, with experience in quantum optics and cold atoms.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 9,047.40 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
