Biography

Hsia Chuan-Wei is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Academia Sinica’s Institute of Sociology. He received his PhD from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan. His research interests include economic sociology, neoliberalism, cultural sociology, and political economy. These foci centered around one key issue: explaining how and why neoliberalism gains supremacy in Taiwan. As trade union organizer and journalist, He had many experiences of fighting with neoliberal policies from government and business groups, and his researches was a natural extension of these experiences. He wrote three books of investigative journalism included A Legend of a Bank Trade Union; The Social Consequences of Bank Merger Waves; and The Credit Card Addition, all in Chinese.
