One of the most fundamental research directions in the group is the investigation and optimization of superconducting thin film microwave resonators in external magnetic fields. For many research fields involving superconducting LC circuits and mechanical or magnetic systems, the application of external magnetic fields is inevitable. It is known, however, that the properties of superconducting devices can depend strongly on the presence, the strength and orientation of a magnetic field. We are investigating how these fields impact the properties of the microwave circuits and try to engineer resonators with properties suitable for the corresponding experimental setting.
