Thesis templates
Templates for writing your thesis using LaTeX:
Here are LaTeX templates that you can used to write your thesis, providing a suggestion on how to structure your thesis. There is no one-size-fits all solution, so please think carefully about how to best structure your thesis and discuss this at an early stage with your thesis supervisor. Please note that the default thesis language in this lab is English.
English templates:
- BSc thesis: bsc-bioinformatics-english.tex
- MSc thesis: msc-bioinformatics-english.tex
German templates:

How to hand in your thesis:
(These rules were introduced by the board of examiners in their meeting on Nov 13, 2024.)
- Hand in the thesis by email to pruefungsamt.bioinformatik at the University of Tuebingen.
- You must send your thesis as a PDF as an attachment, the examination office does not accept downloads from a server or cloud service.
- You must send the email from your University of Tuebingen student email address.
- The PDF must contain the signed “Selbständigkeitserklärung”.
- Any code and data etc must be provided as a ZIP file (or similar) to the first reviewer (this can be via a server or cloud service).
- Hard copies are only required if a reviewer says that they want one. So you must ask each reviewer whether they want a hard copy.
- If a hard copy is provided to a reviewer, then it must be identical to the PDF.
Also, another important point: you must still be enrolled as a student to hand in a thesis and for the thesis presentation.
