Principal Investigators
Prof. Hans-Christoph Nuerk, University of Tübingen, Germany
- Prof. Nuerk, a Psychologist and Mathematician oversees the full project. He and his lab experience with translingual studies, basic numerical cognition, developmental eye-tracking and neurocognitive studies, so that there is expertise for all domains of the proposed research project. He oversees the German and the English part of the project.
Prof. Maciej Haman, University of Warsaw, Poland

Prof. Maciej Haman is a development cognitive psychologist, who oversees the Polish part of the project. He has extensive experience with investigation of cognitive development in particular numerical development, which is also one major focus of this study. In particular, his experience with kindergarten children is extremely valuable for this group, which is not so easy to test.

Dr. Frank Domahs, a Neurolinguist and Cognitive Scientist is particularly concerned with the linguistic aspects of the project. He oversees the planning of the translingual studies, the linguistic stimulus material and analyses, and their relation to numerical cognition. He ensures that the linguistic aspects are state-of-the-art.

Dr. Ann-Christine Ehlis is the head of Psychophysiology & Optical Imaging in the Psychiatry Department. Due to her expertise in neuroscientific methods, she is supporting different steps of designing and data analyzing of the neuroimaging (fNIRS) and eye-tracking experiments.

Dr. Silke Göbel is an experimental psychologist specialized in cross-cultural and developmental studies on number processing. In the project she is supervising data collection in the United Kingdom and shares her extensive experience in cross-cultural and cross-linguistic studies in the field of numerical cognition.

Dr. Krzysztof Cipora is specialized in numerical cognition, especially the SNARC effect. He is coordinating the project and data collection in Germany and in the United Kingdom. Due to his extensive experience in experimental psychology, takes particular responsibility for experimental procedures, data preparation and analysis.

Katarzyna Lipowska M.Sc. is a PhD student specialized in advanced statistics. In the project she is responsible for collecting the data in Poland as well as for applying advanced methods of statistical data analysis.
