WorldCat - Die weltgrößte bibliographische Datenbank, die internationale Kataloge von über 10.000 Bibliotheken umfasst, wobei gezielt auch Bestände in der Nähe angezeigt werden können.
ZDB - In der Zeitschriftendatenbank finden Sie die Titel von gedruckten und Online-Zeitschriften, Zeitungen, Datenbanken und Jahrbüchern, die in Bibliotheken in Deutschland und Österreich vorhanden sind.
EZB - Die Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek weist den Zugang zu wissenschaftlichen Volltextzeitschriften im Internet nach; d. h. Sie können anhand der Ampelsymbole sehen, inwiefern Sie an der Universität Tübingen Zugriff haben und ggf. direkt zu den Volltexten gelangen.
Das zentrale Nachweisinstrument für elektronische Bibliographien und Datenbanken ist DBIS: Sie können frei suchen und in Listen für Ihr Fach blättern; u. a. findet sich dort die für die Neuphilologie besonders relevante der MLA (hier ein Video-Tutorial).

Die DFG-geförderten Fachinformationsdienste (FID) für die Wissenschaft haben die ehemaligen Sondersammelgebiete (SSG) abgelöst. FID-Bibliotheken entwickeln für ihre Fachgebiete in Kooperation mit der jeweiligen wissenschaftlichen Community Services, die über die reine Bereitstellung von Medien hinaus dem standortübergreifenden Literatur- und Informationsbedarf dienen sollen.
