"We all benefited from the extra expertise, new areas of knowledge and expansion of our pedagogical networks. We thank the Universitätsbund for their support."

Dr. Rebecca Beattie was a guest lecturer at our penultimate seminar for the course ‘Witcherature: The Witch in Literature and Culture’ on 2 February 2022 which I taught at the English Department of Tübingen University. Dr. Beattie’s expertise is in modernism, especially that relating to witchcraft, in the study of witchcraft itself and in creative writing. She is the author of Nature Mystics: The Literary Gateway to Modern Paganism (Moon Books, 2015), which includes work on authors my students have studied for the seminar, including Mary Webb and Sylvia Townsend Warner, as well as novels and poetry.

It is particularly useful to have guest lecturers for an online course such as ‘Witcherature’: The class was refreshed by having another teacher, and it was also important to me as the lecturer to observe another mode of teaching as well as to maintain links formed in the pre-Covid scholarly network at Tübingen University and to be able to enrich these as much as we can during these times.
