Olisa Godson Muojama: Border Neighbourhoods in Anglo-German Colonial Encounters in West Africa, 1890–1919

"In recent years, there has been a flurry of interest in trans-imperial history by analysing the entanglements among the European colonising nations. Using the neighbourhoods on the boundaries between British Gold Coast (Ghana) and German Togoland, this article explores Anglo-German entanglements over colonial and boundary questions, from 1890, when the first border demarcation between German Togoland and the British Gold Coast was concluded at the Treaty of Helgoland–Zanzibar, to 1919, when German Togoland was shared between Britain and France, following the defeat of Germany in the First World War (1914–1918). It highlights the nature of these encounters, their effects on the local populations and the reaction of the border communities to the tension of the imperial conflicts. […]"

Marília De Nardin Budó: Colonial and Patriarchal Dimensions of State-Corporate Harm - Embodying the Powerful in the Global Asbestos Crisis

"This powerful book examines the global asbestos industry's devastating impact on health, communities, and ecosystems, exposing how corporations and governments collaborate to silence victims while prioritizing profits. Drawing on research from Brazil and Italy, it reveals how race, gender and social privilege determine which harms are recognized and which are tolerated. Grounded in Black feminist and decolonial thought, the book uses the asbestos industry as a lens to expose colonial male-dictions: narratives that shield powerful actors from accountability. Beyond a story of victims versus corporations, it offers a radical reimagining of state-corporate harm through memory and transformative justice."

From the field of the crimes of the powerful, informed by feminist and decolonial epistemologies, I propose in this article a debate over the more recent judicial and political decisions that allowed Brazil to keep its position as the third major asbestos exporter in the world, in the interest of the mining company Sama. Norihito Nakamura: Kenosis and Its Power. The Kyoto School, Contemporary Philosophy, Political Theology

"What is kenosis? It is a Christian theological concept from Philippians 2 that refers to the "self-emptying" of Jesus. Jesus, while being fully divine, voluntarily emptied himself and renounced certain divine privileges and powers. This concept has sparked extensive theological discussions over its long history, but its meaning underwent a transformation in the twentieth century. In an era of modernity known for nihilism, where secularization and the death of God are taken for granted, kenosis prompts people to consider a new form of religion. This volume of eight essays aims to open up its philosophical and historical significance. […]"
