Exam Registration

Registration and deregistration of exams

Please note that course registration and exam registration are two separate processes:

  • by registering for a course, you (usually) express your interest in attending the course at the beginning of the semester.
  • by registering for an exam you indicate that you wish to take a course (usually at the end of the lecture period).

For many of the modularized Bachelor's/Master's degree programs, exam registration online via the alma portal is mandatory. Exam registration is a prerequisite for admission to the examination. Please contact your department or the responsible examination office in good time to find out whether exam registration via alma is mandatory.

When do I register for exams?

The regular exam registration period begins

  • in the winter term on the 1st Monday in December and ends in mid-January
  • in the summer term on the 1st Monday in June and ends in mid-July
For which exams is self-registration possible?

Generally, if you were able to self-register for a course in your “Planner of studies with Module plan”, you will be able to register for the related examination in your “Planner of studies with Module plan”.

Instructions for exam registration and deregistration in alma can be found on the page of the Data Center (ZDV).

What can I do if I did not manage to register for an exam?

If you are unable to register for an exam in alma by yourself after the exam registration period has started, please contact the responsible examination office. The responsible employee can register you for exams or give you further information about the procedures.
