My research is on control, motivation and choice in the philosophy of mind, ethics and AI. I draw both on philosophical literature and from empirical work in cognitive science, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence to make progress in these debates. My dissertation focuses on a cluster of interrelated issues around agency, including guidance, effort, difficulty, moral motivation, demandingness, and moral burnout.
