Searching for the origin of particles at the high-energy frontier

Maximilian Stadelmaier, Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FZU), Prag — July 10, 2023

The origin of the highest energetic particles known to humankind is to this day not understood. The Pierre Auger Observatory, which is located in the Argentinean Pampa Amarilla in South America, is now beginning its Phase 2 of operation to explain the mystery of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays.

I want to give a brief overview of the status and prospects of ultrahigh-energy cosmic ray physics and air-shower phenomenology.
